If, like many of us, you’re thinking about how you can reduce your environmental impact with your lifestyle choices, you might want to consider staying closer to home for your next holiday rather than jetting off overseas.
International flights can mean your personal carbon emissions quickly add up, so if you can stay in the UK and enjoy caravan holidays instead you’re likely to be significantly reducing your carbon footprint.
As the Mirror recently pointed out, taking the average caravan on a 1,000km trip will mean you’re still emitting 25 per cent less CO2 per person than if you took a flight. And let’s face it, in the UK you’re not likely to be driving that far to reach your caravan site.
Once you’re there, you don’t even need to jump in the car again until you’re ready to hitch up the caravan and head home. If you take your bike with you, you’ll be able to get around easily and without adding any emissions to the atmosphere.
Take a look at the Fiamma bike racks available to ensure you can safely transport your two wheels to your chosen destination.
Earlier this year, iNews released a list of some of the top cycle routes in the UK. Find a caravan site near one of these and you’ll be onto a winner.
Among them are the Ayrshire Coast Cycleway in Scotland, which covers 19 miles giving you a leisurely two to 2.5 hour ride, and the more challenging Oban to Fort William ride, which is 48 miles long.
Other options include the Camel Trail in Cornwall, Holkham Beach in North Norfolk and the Bay Cycle Way in Cumbria and Lancashire.
