As autumn hits, you might be thinking about curling up at home and not leaving the house so much. But there are some stunning spots to visit in the UK as the weather cools down - and if you have motorhome you’ll be taking your home with you.
CountryLiving recently shared research from furniture designers Arlo and Jacob, which highlighted the most tranquil towns and villages in the UK. We think they provide great inspiration for a short break.
At the top of the list is Plockton in Scotland. It’s described as “the Jewel of the Highlands” and it’s easy to see why with it coastal location and surrounding countryside.
Next up is Castle Combe in Wiltshire. This is a picture-perfect village, with pale, honey-coloured houses lining the meandering streets. It’s also in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which means there are some stunning walks to do as well as this pretty village to discover.
St Andrew’s Church and the Market Cross are among the sights to look out for as you wander around these pretty streets.
Clovelly in Devon is in at number three, with the town noted for its cobbled streets and white-washed houses, while Tobermoray on the Isle of Mull takes fourth spot. This village is renowned for its colourful properties lining the harbour. Rounding off the top five is Beddgelert in Gwynedd, Wales.
With so many stunning places to explore on our doorstep, it’s the perfect excuse to head off for a short break in your motorhome this autumn. Make sure you have motorhome solar panels to give you power and light in the darker evenings and mornings too.
